Adelaide based photographer Simon Cecere made his debut on Ben Trovato last year with the conceptually intriguing I Am The Prototype, and continues to explore exciting story lines in his second story for us entitled New Harvest. The story features Georgia Bess Varcoe at Finesse Models Australia, as a free spirit who lives in a world of her own imagination. We caught up with Simon asking a few questions about his latest contribution to Ben Trovato.
What were your main sources of inspirations when shooting the story?
I really wanted to do a story out in the countryside. When we were scouting locations we came across a small town called Nain just outside the Barossa Valley in South Australia. It was quaint, remote and had the most charming scenery, so Cristina [Tridente] (Stylist) and I dreamt about the possibilities of a story that would best showcase her new collection, and the idea grew from there.
Georgia looks amazing, how was she to work with?
Georgia was great. We looked at a few girls beforehand and wanted someone who could pull off a ‘happy-go-lucky’ vibe. Georgia was just the perfect fit. Her fun, care-free spirit gave an extra spark to the story.
How about the rest of the team? Have you worked together before?
Yes, we’ve worked together before. Everyone was fantastic. We are all on the same wavelength. I think it is important to work with people who have a similar aesthetic and can bring out the best in each other.
Cristina, please say a few words about the story and your styling.
I loved the idea of shooting the story in a rugged sun-drenched setting. It gave the collection a fresh dynamic and made the colors pop. I wanted each look to be graceful yet effortless. I paired vintage accessories with statement pieces, cowboy boots with flowing gowns; giving the story a subtle western feel.
